With Love / John Frusciante / From The Sounds Inside
|
John Frusciante
There’s a group of people here on tumblr that I’ve followed for 3+ years and I’ve seen them go through a lot. It’s a selective few that with a simple click of that heart in the corner or a Reblog they try to show that “hey, I’m still here…I’m still listening.” I do the same to them. Sounds funny, but it’s become somewhat of an online friendship that I’d like to believe we hold our own value to. I haven’t had time to blog in detail all that’s been going on with me (like I normally like to do) but we try to let people know we’re still here, kindly “stalking” each other to what everyone is up to. So to all of you, I hope you know who I’m talking to (I’ve seen all your “likes”), have a great Happy New Year and be safe. I want updates of la cruda tomorrow. In 2012, I’ll be debuting a picture of my first baby boy, Kenneth Alexander. That post, when it comes, better get 20 likes…just kidding. At least 10 :)
“With Love,”
Alex
My BROTHER is going to be a DAD! And I couldn’t be happier for him! I love my bro. There was a point in our family timeline through our parents hard times just before the divorce that I felt like a ‘dad’ to him (only 5 years apart) because of what the situation that was laid out for us. Now-a-days, when I look back… I know I grew up too fast and HAD to mature quick because someone needed to step up and well… it ended up being me.
I looked out for this guy just like a brother should. He grew up quick too though, again - we had too. I honored his path and advised him throughout his journey whenever he came to seek it. He has left his marks around town let me tell you… but that’s how I knew he was going to be just fine. Even though i’d get phone calls from MOM and DAD about “que vamos hacer con Alex?” or “No se que decirle” I would just remind them of what he’s actually doing at work and what he’s thinking and what his dreams are. He wasn’t scared to let people know he was in the room. I have always wanted him to be HIM. I knew that his interest, personality and character were different from mine and that just made things click better. We got to learn new things from each other.
well… lots of time has passed… He’s doing his thing at @side_one_dummy records. He’s now taking his next step. He’s going to be a PAPA. I can’t wait to see him hold his new baby BOY and look into those eyes. It’s going to take over your his entire state of emotions and I can’t wait to see the new ALEXANDER.
Congrats to my brother and his beautiful lady Lissette!
So I went into my Library of pictures and pulled this one out of my external harddrive. This picture says alot. I’ll let you all interrogate the heck out of it. It’s worth a couple looks. That picture was taken in ‘our’ room which we shared for years and years and years till I was even in college. The picture is pointed in the direction of his side of the wall.
Love you bro! CONGRATS on becoming a PAPA!
I’d be a fool not to reblog this for the picture alone. My brother pulled this one from the “I didn’t know you still had this” archives. Look at my wall of Smashing Pumpkins on one side and misc on the other side. I tell you one thing, I’d be a fool not to reblog it but I definitely don’t have a fool for a brother.
Love you, Big Brother!
Message to Big Brother: I asked Miraida what does Nicholas call Jimmy Jr. and she said “Baby Brother” and I imagined what it must sound like in the same way he calls me “ancle” and I thought it was the sweetest thing ever. I miss all of you.
My father, Don Elias, turns 61 today. Wow! Sixty-One (3 years shy of that Beatles song) That’s insane, I’ve been telling people my dad is young, that “he’s like 50 something. I think like early 50s.” Not anymore. Our old man is 61 and as he told me over the phone today, “ya voy en la bajada.” Luckily for him, my siblings and I have done a pretty amazing job with giving him and my mother some beautiful grandchildren to pump some youth back into them. I can’t wait until the day comes that I can hand him over my son and say “Here you go dad, I want you to meet my son.” I know it will be just one of the many pleasures Lissette and I will enjoy, sharing our little one with family.
Gifts in the form of shirts and socks are no more for my dad. I stopped doing that a few years ago and even though it can mostly be attributed to me being lazy, I always manage to send him something special. Below is what I sent him: a card with words that only he and I know what they mean and then the latest ultrasound picture of my son. If you’re having trouble figuring it out, it’s basically a picture of his face and he’s looking right at you. Pretty neat huh? The frame I made out of a used cardboard vinyl box. I’m crafty.

Stuff like that up there gets me emotional these days and then my brother goes on and blogs about THIS just this morning? Nombre…How lucky am I? Very much so, I say. Usually thinking about all these things and how they make me feel to be so fortunate to be where I am right now in regards to family, is the best way to stroll right into my birthday tomorrow. I’ll be by the phone tomorrow, waiting for my dad to call me and see how he liked his gift.
Happy Birthday, Dad! Can’t wait to share Father’s Day next year with all the Cornejo men!
My kid was not shy at all about showing what it’s working with at the ultrasound appointment earlier.

We’re having a BABY BOY!!
SPOILER ALERT! Lissette and I have an appointment to find out the sex of the baby today. We were tipped off by an unexpected ultrasound last week that it might be a boy so we went shopping for scrapbook items. I kept the receipt. By 5pm PST we should know officially. Can’t wait.
P.S. That family pictured in the scrapbook is not my family. They are just our current avatar, I guess.
*Just a minor edit in looking closely at those stickers. If there was a scrapbook for me, I’d need a roll of maybe 1,000 “Nap Time” stickers.
Yesterday was my brother’s birthday. The big man hit 34 years yesterday. He has his own blog on tumblr if you’d like to follow. He’s got a house being built for him and at 34 years of age he’s built himself a nice little family too. No need to look high and low for inspiration, some of my heroes are blood.
Happy Birthday, Brotha!
So here we are at week 9 of our home building process…. time for some picture updates. Here is the OCTOBER Update in order..
October 2nd we came to inspection and to our SURPRISE!! the house was Up! what you see here is one weeks worth of work since the WOOD arrived. I’m new to this and we’ll i’m thinking this is quick! When they told me Pacific Ridge is “one well-oiled machine” they weren’t kidding! Framing for both downstairs and upstairs including all window cutouts, room layouts and some plumbing work.
October 2, 2011
October 7, 2011 - THE ROOF is in and EVERYONE is HAPPY! Especially JR!
October 22, 2011 - we’ll skip a week and show more improvements inside… here is the upstairs second bathroom getting installed. Various construction points here… central heating (yes-it gets cold up here!!), electrical outlets, lighting, bathroom plumbing and other small details.
So here is where we are now…. Roof, framing, electrical wiring and plumbing, central heating, windows, fireplace and sooo much more to come! still 3 phases to go! Move in day is DEC 15, 2011! I’m starting to believe that day is actually going to happen.
I love doing the walk downs and looking at how the house is getting from week to week. The great part about getting all this photo records is knowing where all the wiring and framing is layed out for when I need to change or fix something. I’ll hit the right spots when I need too.
MUCH MUCH more is still left…. so stay tuned! LEss then 2 months to go!
we are all excited to move in and spend our first HOLIDAY together in our new home… what more could we ask for.
One last picture… it was a picture Nicholas asked for. He turned to me and said.. “papa, take a picture”… I couldn’t help but obey. I know he can’t wait to run up and down these stairs!!
Until next time!!
GO BIG!!
Tomorrow is my brother’s birthday and no one deserves this for their family more than him. Love the update. And the picture of Jr.’s incredible smile in front of the house is worth posting this alone. Can’t wait to chase these kids around the new crib.
Estos son mis cuates! Here we are celebrating Jesse’s 30th Birthday (dude all the way to the left). No maaaames. 30? Chingue su madre…
With the exception of Sal (all the way in the right, Jesse’s older brother aka Cholo Ninja), I’ve known the rest of these mugs for about 17 years now. That’s over half of my life, yo! It’s funny cause we always tell people when we’re talking about each other that we’ve known each other “for like 10 years n shiet, foo” but somehow after saying 10 and 10 and 10, it’s now become 17. How quickly time flies. Serio pedo.
I don’t want to take away from the occasion that brought us together here but Fabi (Jesse’s wife) sure knows that it’s super rare for all of us to take some time to ALL hang out so she snapped a quick picture of all of us mientras hablabamos babosadas. There’s always 1 or 2 of us always missing so it was cool that all of us could take some time off of our sleepy schedules to hang out and NOT finish a 24 pack of beer. Ya teniamos sueño and it was cold. We’re getting old, what can we say?
Some of us will soon be married, others will be fathers and the rest who knows what other roles they’ll be filling but one gig that we’ll never quit is being Best Friends. *insert Care Bears and all kinds of silly cute snuggly shit*
Arriba Los Compas de la Fremont!! (L to R: Jesse, Me, Marco, Deandre, Oscar and Sal)
Lucky #3: 3rd October baby in the family, born on October 3rd and my sister’s 3rd and last child.
Meet Madeleine Elizabeth. The family’s first baby girl. I swore up and down I was going to give my parents their first granddaughter but Madeleine stepped in and was like “Aww hells nah!” Held her for a good 30 some minutes yesterday and she was quiet as I wish ALL babies could be. She’s gorgeous. And like I told my sister, “I can’t wait to see what silly little girl things she’s gonna come up with. I’m glad there’s a little girl around now.”
My sister is doing great. She’ll be resting for another full day maybe and then head on home to her 3 kids. The way Adrian takes care little Jerry, I’m sure he’s gonna be a great big brother to Madeliene and I already warned Jerry that his new gig is to beat up and keep in check every boyfriend that Madeleine has. Well that’s until she starts dating boys at like 34 or something.
Our family is happy. Abuelo Elias meets his granddaughter on Sunday and Uncle Big Jim is being kept in loop with pictures until the day they meet.
